NEW YORK, Dec. 12, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- S&P Global (NYSE: SPGI) has been named one of the top 25 'Most JUST Companies' by JUST Capital and Forbes, in this year's JUST 100 rankings. S&P Global, a leading provider of transparent and independent ratings, benchmarks, analytics and data to the capital and commodity markets, also placed as the industry leader in the Consumer & Diversified Finance category.

Courtney Geduldig, Executive Vice President of Public Affairs at S&P Global says: "Our high placement in this year's JUST 100 rankings is yet more recognition of our real commitment to our employees and the environment in which we operate, to promote economic growth and to help build sustainable communities."

"With a view of contributing towards a stable and sustainable future, S&P Global set environmental performance targets and, since the 2013 baseline year, has increased recycling to 78%, reduced paper use by 48% and energy consumption by 18%. In 2018, S&P Global earned CarbonNeutral Business Travel Certification by neutralizing emissions from employee travel through investments in renewable energy projects globally."

The JUST Capital Rankings encompass the 1,000 largest publicly-traded companies in the U.S., and are based on a comprehensive survey of public attitudes toward corporate behavior - involving 9,000 American respondents in 2018, and more than 81,000 over the past four years.

Compared to their peers, S&P Global and the companies in the JUST 100 on average:

  • Pay their median workers 26% more;
  • Emit 35% less greenhouse gas emissions per dollar of revenue;
  • Give 6 times as much to charitable causes per dollar of revenue; and
  • Have a 5% higher Return-on-Equity.

As one of America's Most JUST Companies, S&P Global is also included in Goldman Sachs Asset Management's JUST U.S. Large Cap Equity ETF  – the first exchange-traded fund based on just business behavior, constructed from JUST Capital's rankings.

About the JUST Capital Rankings Methodology
JUST Capital's Rankings are the culmination of over four years of market research (encompassing over 81,000 respondents mapped to the U.S. Census population) on what the American people prioritize regarding corporate behavior today. JUST Capital conducted its 2018 survey, which included 9,000 respondents, in partnership with NORC at the University of Chicago. The survey results found that Americans, when asked to identify what is most important for companies to prioritize, ranked the following in order of importance: Workers, Customers, Products, the Environment, Jobs, Communities, and finally, Leadership & Shareholders. JUST Capital then tracked and evaluated the performance of companies against these priorities and created the ranking model that drives America's Most JUST Companies, including the JUST 100 absolute ranking and Industry Leader list. The selection of companies draws from the Russell 1000 Index, which represents over 90 percent of the U.S. stock market value.
