Hubert Joly
Former Chairman and CEO
Best Buy
Hubert Joly is the former Chairman and CEO of Best Buy where he served from 2012 to 2020. Mr. Joly previously served from 2008 to 2012 as CEO of Carlson Companies, a global travel and hospitality company, and from 2004 to 2008 as CEO of Carlson Wagonlit Travel, a global leader in corporate travel management. Before this, he had various leadership roles at Vivendi Universal from 1999 to 2004 and at Electronic Data Systems from 1996 to 1999. He began his career at McKinsey & Company from 1983 to 1996, serving clients in the technology and financial institutions sectors. Mr. Joly currently serves on the board of directors of Johnson & Johnson and previously served on the Ralph Lauren board. He is also a trustee of the New York Public Library.
He is now a member of the faculty at Harvard Business School, where he co-leads a portfolio of programs supporting CEOs and senior executives of leading corporations. He is the author of The Heart of Business and is a frequent speaker on purpose, culture, leadership and the importance of frontline employees. Mr. Joly has been recognized as one of the top 100 CEOs in the world by Harvard Business Review.
